Annual Watts Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Since 1991 WCLO has been at forefront of this community celebration. The main purpose of this event is to bring together different ethnic groups in a climate of tolerance, mutual respect, and festive social interaction. This celebration includes: VIP reception and a Community Fiesta with live, multi-cultural entertainment, Community Resource Tables, arts and crafts, ethnic food and games.

Annual Christmas Food Baskets

WCLO in coordination with Navidad En El Barrio distributes 432 food baskets to low-income families in the Watts community. This program was designed to help poor families to have a nice Christmas meal.

Free Child Safety Car Seat Program

This program was designed to provide children of low-income families with safety car seats free of cost. The purpose is to reduce incarceration of head of households cited by courts because they were driving their vehicles with children without safety car seats.

Every car seat has an average cost of $60.00. We implement this program with the assistance of the City of Los Angeles Community Development Department (Human Services & Family Development Division). Since 2001, WCLO has distributed over 3,400 Safety Car Seats.
